Raise your hand if you love chocolate cake!!!🙋🏼♀️ After spending some time in Italy this summer I have fallen in love with Italian food… so I have been trying to recreate some of their staple dishes. It’s February (in 2 days)!!! That means we get to celebrate everything pink...yay! Winter is the most WONDERFUL time of the year because of the snow… obviously!!! In Vancouver that may be a little different but in the rest of Canada there is snow and cold temperatures! The winter is amazing because you get to enjoy so many outdoor activities, some of my favs are snowboarding, snowshoeing + skating! Furry little friends tend to like snowy activities as much as I do. This winter was Zeus’ first time seeing snow and we weren’t sure what to expect but boy oh boy does he LOVE the snow so much! We took him to the ski hill and to all the local trails to go on winter hikes and snowshoes with us. It was important to us to make sure that his paws were protected while hanging out in the snow. January is thyroid disease awareness month! In 2012, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists debuted the blue paisley ribbon to unify thyroid awareness. Fun fact — the paisley pattern was chosen to represent the thyroid because it represents the cross-section of a thyroid follicle… how cool!!! As some of you may know I take a special interest in the thyroid health as I personally suffer from a thyroid condition called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Italy is probably one of the most AMAZING places I have been able to travel! The whole trip just seems like a dream and I am beyond grateful that I was able to spend time there with the person I love most, Morgan. The lifestyle is so relaxed the food is so delicious (and perfect for people that can’t normally have gluten and dairy… it’s just different in Italy!). This was my first trip to Europe and boy oh boy did it require a lot of planning and researching, which took up a lot of time and took away from us enjoying the Italian culture to its fullest extent! Don’t get me wrong… we still had an amazing time but spending an hour each day finding all the places we want to go is a long time!!!. We tried to book all our accommodations and trains before we left but finding all the places to eat + explore takes lots of time. So let me help you plan your dream vacation to ITALY🇮🇹
Who’s ready for a little loco-cocoa this holiday season?! If you are anything like me you go a little loco for hot cocoa in the winter time. Hot cocoa is so yummy and so warm and its screams winter! After a long day on the ski hill or skating on the outdoor rink, all I want afterward is to sip a warm cup of cocoa. The only issue is… a lot of the store brand cocoa’s have a lot of sugar and additives. The good thing is that if you make your own all the ingredients are wholesome and can actually have some health benefits as well so you don’t have to feel guilty when drinking this delicious drink!
I have recently just started to drink chai tea and I don’t know what took me so long to try it!!!! It is so AMAZING. It is sweet + spicy and will warm you up from the inside out! This traditional Indian drink is full of amazing spices that all convey their own health benefits. All the spices having warming properties, which is exactly what you want when it comes to fall and winter!
With fall in full throttle there is still lots of time to make everything PUMPKIN SPICE! (Be prepared as I have a lot of pumpkin-inspired recipes coming your way these next few months 😛).
