Detoxification Smoothie

Spring is the time to detoxify the body! If you read my previous post all about detoxification you will know what I am talking about! Including detox promoting foods into the diet can be a little bit difficult but with a few easy changes, you can have yourself a morning detox smoothie that will be super easy to incorporate into your morning routine!!!!! I know that adding a bunch of health crap into the blender normally ends up being like swamp water but believe me when I say this tastes like a berry-citrus Orange Julius 😉

The Contents 

Blueberries — potent antioxidants that help to reduce oxidative damage in the body

Spirulina — blue-green algae that help to pull heavy metals from the brain, CNS, and liver

Chlorella — green algae that bind to heavy metals and helps remove them from the body

Fiber — binds toxins in the body and helps them be properly excreted from the body

Apple — contains vitamin C, fiber and pectin. Pectin is good at promoting the growth of good bacteria in the gut


Detoxification Smoothie
Barefoot Brit:
Recipe type: Breakfast
Serves: 2 cups
  • ¾ C blueberries
  • 6 florets cauliflower (steamed and frozen)
  • 1 banana (frozen)
  • ½ orange (large)
  • ½ lemon (peeled)
  • Big handful spinach
  • ½ green apple
  • ½ tsp spirulina
  • ½ tsp chlorella
  • 2 tbsp fiber (I like nutracleanse)
  • ⅕ C coconut water
  1. Place all ingredients into a high-speed blender
  2. Blend until smooth (~1-2 mins)
  3. ENJOY
